Baye Star is a Senegalese singer, songwriter, indy artist. He was born in Rufisque, a city in the Dakar region, originally known as a Lebou fishers village. Growing up in Africa, the vibrant cradle of rhythm and pop music, Baye Star’s musical journey began in 2002 with the hip-hop group “Black Roots.” Since then, he has explored various genres, including R&B Soul, Pop, Hip-Hop, and Reggae.
In 2006, Baye Star gained recognition by participating in the compilations “Marlboro Sound System” and “Marlboro Experience,” featuring his single “Rastafari.” His love for reggae music, rich in mysticism and universal messages, allows him to express his heart through songwriting. His lyrics, written in Wolof, English, and French, convey messages of peace, love, and freedom.
Baye Star left Senegal in 2012 to join a group of Senegalese artists on a European tour, sharing his music across Portugal, Spain, France, and eventually Italy. In Genoa, he became part of the Safara group, a fusion of Italian and Senegalese musicians. His charisma, powerful stage presence, and contagious energy make Baye Star a unique and unmistakable artist in the Afro music scene.
Currently residing in Milan, Italy, he continues to create music that bridges cultures and hearts!
